Washing Machine Not Spinning
Check the Load and Drive Belt
Redistribute heavy items like towels or bedding evenly around the drum. If the machine still will not spin, unplug it and inspect the drive belt at the back for cracks or breaks — a snapped belt means the motor runs but the drum stays still.
Worn Motor Brushes or Door Interlock
Carbon brushes wear down after 5–8 years. If the motor hums but the drum barely moves, the brushes likely need replacing. A faulty door interlock can also stop the spin cycle entirely — the machine thinks the door is open.
When to Call an Engineer
If the belt looks intact, the load is balanced and the door locks properly, the fault likely needs professional diagnosis. Motor control boards, bearing wear and pump blockages all require specialist tools.
