Oven Not Heating Up

Failed Element or Thermostat

If the element no longer glows orange, it has likely snapped after years of heating and cooling. A faulty thermostat causes inaccurate temperatures or no heat at all. Element replacement £85–£120. Thermostat £90–£130.

Fan Motor or Door Seal

A seized fan motor causes uneven cooking — burnt edges, raw centres — even though the element still heats. Replacement typically £110–£160. A worn door seal lets heat escape, making the oven struggle to reach temperature. Seal replacement £75–£95.

Control Board and When to Call

Control board faults are the most expensive common repair at £150–£220, but still cheaper than replacing a built-in oven worth £400–£800. If basic checks do not solve it, call a local oven engineer for same-day diagnosis.
